I think designers need to focus on "corporate-type" logos used by other restaurants around the country. This logo needs to be fun and inviting to people that just walk by this first location. While focusing on beer is alright, every bar, anywhere is assumed to have that on tap. The elements that will win this contest include: washing machines and logos involving "cartoon-like" bubble characters if they can be done in a very polished manner. Thanks for all of the submissions!

For added reference, we were impressed with the logo for Soapy Joe's (view it at soapyjoes.com) Why do we like this logo? 1) The fonts complement the cartoon feel of the overall concept; 2) you have no trouble figuring it out as a laundry business; 3) it is warm, funny, and different What we don't like...1) it could be simplified and more universal, 2) it might not work everywhere... Designers should keep in mind that we are designing a laundromat/ bar concept that is easily replicated in other markets, not just the south... Thanks!

JUST A QUICK POINT: I got email bombed today for putting this up as a "contest." I had no idea that so many people would get pissed. However, I intend to select a concept from this site and work with the designer to finalize it. I am not trying to "cheapen" anyone's profession, or support "scumbag spec work," and really had no idea that this was a bad thing. We wanted to open this project up to freelancers, who might be looking for something non-traditional. That's it. -jason

Jason, Please don't be discouraged for making this a contest. A lot of designers are not happy about these contests, they think it takes away from their business. My view is that with the bad economy people have to save money and a lot of business don't have thousands of dollars to shell out for creative design. Plus these contests allow for "new comers" to the profession to get their name out there. I hope that this helps you feel a little better. The designers on this site are good and I doubt any of them feel "cheapened" because of it. We all work hard to please our clients. On that note, because we do work so hard to please our clients, it makes our job easier if you comment on the designs. I personally, and other designers, would like it if you commented on our designs so that we get you exactly what you are looking for. Thank you. NemesisQaine Designs
