A couple quick questions: Is this going to be used for a logo on business cards, stationary, etc.? Or is it only for a "Sale" sign? This will help me and I'm guessing other designers determine just how much detail can go into this design. thanks

I'm a bit confused regarding the rules, are not a lot of these entries containing clip art? Or is it okay to make your own tracings of clip art for use in a logo?

I think using a piece of clip art in your overall design is ok. I dont think its ok to only use a piece or multiple pieces of clip art only to create a logo. Like in my design the laurel leaves were from a GIF image i found and vector traced. But those leaves dont make up my whole design. The rest of it i created myself. Someone else please correct me if im wrong.

Only post ORIGINAL work No clipart, period. If it isn't yours, don't submit it. If you did not come up with 100% of the artwork from your own brain, than it isn't yours. The obvious exception to this is when the customer is providing a sketch or example that they want copied. Just ask yourself before you submit an entry "did I really make this?" That's what it says in the designer guidelines. I'm pretty sure that's about as obvious as it gets. And live traced (vector traced) images aren't original artwork. It's someone else's image and all that's been done is a "filter" has been added to it to convert it from raster.
