I just have to say, that the idea of incorporating 'blood' or 'lightening' into your design did not even occur to me...but it made me laugh at the thought of that! :) What about skulls? - would you mind if I used a sort of fancy skull and crossbones image? lol

I thought of something last night maybe a little late but Ill go with it anyway. it would be great of there was a symbol that can be put on small items. Like Yahoo has the red Y.
