Colors to use in the design

Red & Black like the example and open to other suggestions . I would also like the R to be in the front and the L to be behind which is opposite of the example. I really like the example of the finished logo I am including to reference and like the brushed look of the letters with the ruff edges. I do like the current font but will entertain others with that same brushed feel. I want this to have a business and artistic look at the same time but not to busy.
