What is the full name as you want it on your logo?
|
| |
Gavin Gough Photographer |
|
Do you want any slogans or taglines on your logo? |
| |
Picture the World |
|
What service or product do you provide? |
|
| |
I'm a freelance travel photographer with a portfolio of images from around the world, the majority coming from South-East Asia and the Indian subcontinent. I supply stock images to international image libraries and my photographs are used in travel m |
|
What is your target audience? |
|
| |
My target audience is both corporate design professionals looking for stock images and members of the public booking photo tours and workshops. |
|
What style would you like your logo to be? Would you like unique text, an icon with the name included in it, an icon with the name next to it, an illustration, or a different style? |
|
| |
I'd like the design to include "Gavin Gough Photographer" perhaps beside an icon that represents the fact that I'm a travel photographer. The tag line "Picture the World" is optional at the moment, I don't know if including it will make the design too 'busy' - I leave that to you to decide. |
|
Do you want any specific ideas implemented into your logos? |
|
| |
The logo design should convey, firstly, that I'm a professional photographer so I'd want to avoid an amateurish look. It should have a certain amount of "gravitas" and should be "classical" rather than "funky". It should also give a sense of the plac |
|
What should come to a customers mind when they see your logo? |
|
| |
Photography. Travel. Creativity. Art. Adventure. |
|
Is there anything you would not like to see in your logo? |
|
| |
I'm open to all ideas at present. |
|
How will the logo be used? |
|
| |
Web site, business stationery, promotional brochures, etc. |
|
Do you have any files or images pertaining to your contest that you want the designers to view? |
|
| |
www.gavingough.com - shows a portfolio of images which will give an idea of the work I do and perhaps provide ideas for colour combinations. |
|
What format do you want your logo to be designed in (ai, psd, corel etc..) |
|
| |
Vector |

 | Posted By: gavingough Posted On: 2008-05-25 05:35:09 CONTEST HOLDER | Hi
I'm sorry not to have participated fully in the final stages of this contest. I'm very grateful to all designers who took part and appreciate the time involved.
Unfortunately, there wasn't a design that really conveyed the elements that I wanted and I didn't feel that there was one that I could work with to get what I was looking for. I'm sorry not to be able to pursue any of the designs on this occasion but I'll certainly keep eLogoContest in mind when I'm working on future projects.
Thanks again for taking the time to contribute.

Thanks,
Winger. |

 | Posted By: gavingough Posted On: 2008-05-25 05:56:00 CONTEST HOLDER | I must apologise for that as I really didn't appreciate that it would be a problem. I had no idea how many people would enter either contest and I assume that anyone can register on either site so I wouldn't have thought it was an issue.
Ultimately, the logo that works would be the one chosen and there aren't any here that fit the bill so running another contest was irrelevant. A winner wouldn't have been selected from this site anyway.
Having said that, I'd like to be fair and reasonable and although there isn't a logo here that I can work with, there may be something else that I can do with one of the designers. If that works out then I will announce them as the winner and pay them the fee so the contest will have been a success.
I think that's a fair way to proceed.
Thanks again for your participation. It's been an interesting and informative exercise.

 | Posted By: xpressions Posted On: 2008-05-25 07:37:03 DESIGNER | Gavin: thank you for letting us know and for proposing to work it out with one of the designers on this forum. However, I would be remiss if I didn't address the comment of none of the logos fitting the bill. The logo you did choose in the end, while it is ultimately your choice, does not match the brief you submitted here:
"The logo design should convey, firstly, that I'm a professional photographer so I'd want to avoid an amateurish look. It should have a certain amount of "gravitas" and should be "classical" rather than "funky". It should also give a sense of the places where I work so would perhaps include something that suggests concepts like "travel", "adventure" or "intrepid". Lastly, and most importantly, the logo should have a creative flourish, something that alludes to the creative nature of my business."
I believe should you have been actively participating in the development of your logo here, as you did at 99designs, you would have landed just as good of a logo (not that I believe the chosen logo conveys any of the points in your brief) because most of the designers here participate at 99designs and other sites as well, myself included.
In any rate, wishing you much success in all your future endeavours.

 | Posted By: gavingough Posted On: 2008-05-25 08:21:16 CONTEST HOLDER | Thanks for your message xpressions. I think we probably need to wrap this up now but let me just finish by saying that I was actively participating in the contest here until I had a message from the site administrator (George?) asking me about the other contest.
I wrote back immediately, asking how I should proceed and waited for a reply. It took so long to get a response that, unfortunately, I no longer had time to be involved in this contest by the time it arrived.
The winning logo evolved from the original brief and the consequent discussions that I had with this and other designers. Had there been a more timely response from the Admin here (it took four days to get a reply) then I'm sure we could have followed the same process, had discussions, tweaked designs and possible ended up with something suitable.
Anyway, that's how it happened and although it's a shame and I can completely understand the disappointment of designers who have spent time on entries, it's not something I can change now.
I'll certainly make it clear if I'm running more than one contest in future and I hope that my future projects will be more successful.
Many thanks. |
